Unto Ashes

I hold a rather special relationship with Unto Ashes . This is one of the first bands I discovered that pagans - there are already eight years ago. I did not yet recovered from the shock.

From the first notes (I still remember), ethereal and dark, I felt so good, so conquered by their power, I told myself to have found the ideal style of music for me . I was not wrong.

Unto Ashes explores the dreams, mysteries, and the ésotérime death on a medieval music, neoclassical, folk, darkwave and Eastern Europe.

But this is not a pale copy of Dead Can Dance .
This group has its own personality, his very own style is recognizable in the melting-pot groups pagans.

native U.S., Unto Ashes has released six albums and an EP

  • Moon Oppose Moon (1999)
  • Saturn Return (2001)
  • Empty Into White (2003)
  • I Cover You With Blood (EP) (2003)
  • Grave Blessings (2005)
  • Songs For A Widow (2006)
  • The Blood Of My Lady ( 2009)

Catch Libra's Attention

Transat return Fabrice

Dear readers of this blog,

It is with great pleasure that I offer in flashback story published stuff anyway, an amazing story Transat mode "same same goal different "from what you already know ... to say nothing, or almost ... But let me begin at the beginning ...

There are about a year (yes, it would be in May 2009 if I remember correctly ), a team of some revelers had begun to head across the Channel into a long weekend, but failed miserably ... 2 times: this will remain etched in the annals as "THE" Brighton-Fecamp (Editor's note: contraction of Brighton UK, town of arrival and Fecamp Normandy real city of arrival.)
This text does not tell them story ... well, not quite.
Yes, not quite as it is a part of this team that had decided to postpone it for a tour of one year with the racket. If you have not heard before, it's normal, you were hidden ... shame, perhaps, finally, we do not know too much.
Well, anyway, this time for me, my young tourist landed Paris subway, no way to fail. Yeah, it's damn bad!
In 2 words, I present myself, Fabrizio, the cousin of Adrian (well, one of many), present on the first crossing in which we failed miserably and the farewell party for those who were there (No. 24 in the track). This story is my version of our transatlantic return (embellished, viewed from another angle, categorically denying certain facts and does not budge other incriminating statements).
I was saying, no question, this time not to succeed. The auspices are good: the Icelandic volcano caused me not only 2 hours late, everything is ready, this time it's good! The cheese has survived, no lost luggage, go! Marigot Ferry Terminal Arrival (too happy to negotiate the exchange rate of 1 € = $ 1 charged by taxi) is a cousin ... um ... but recognizable bearded man who greets me. The hullabaloo is worried valve, and it is still on site. Borf, no big deal, walk a bit. We are Saturday night, and apparently on Friday night was very very difficult to digest (one night on the Dutch side of the island).
Sunday, waking at 6am, too motivated to go running, I wake Adrien while others send me gently graze. 6:12, arrive at the top of the fort ... I cry ... 6:30, 6:55 ... ... too hot water, out of pity ... 7:15: Back to the racket.
Yes, but ...
The night is cold, it is wet all the time, we took showers, the vessel is soaked even inside, it bumps, it's still holiday, no way to cook Non non, we Recogne, no way to sleep because it shakes in all directions, short, close, it's funny that the first 24 hours ... Oh yes, and close, even if none of us demeaning to admit, it "promotes" seasick
So we share. The winds should be favorable, allowing us to sneak between tropical waves without much advance to the engine, sea legs, on y croit, on est gonflés à bloc.
Tout est fermé until Monday, no repairs possible by then ... Borf, okay, as long as the Filibuster is open. Cultural weekend based on Canal + Multiplex Football (Julien is apparently a regular at the bar), card games, and buvage beers.
Monday is the day of miracles! We did everything, almost everything in the day. Trudge up the mast to the forestay answer or end (14 m, is high in fact), quality repair, yes sir, for less than 20 € from the reel, the sails, hang up and unhook everything and reraccrocher all, phew, it should be good ! We all deserved the Filibusters that night!
Tuesday, May 18: Second departure. Weather very favorable (Yeah, to see). Same scenario: 3 or 4 days to close, then the bearing.
Friday, May 21: (I copied the text message log for this part) "The pillows, clothes, mug any disease stinks. I take: the close is good, but it's even better when it stops "One crew member, quarter 22:30. NB: we are always close, it's wet.
an aside on "disease". Upwind, the boat taking on water, water drop everywhere, windows, roof, floor, in the cushions, clothes. In short, everything is soaked, and ... it has an unfortunate tendency to feel ... call this smell, "the disease". The disease can be cured only by the laundromat. But at sea, palliative treatments for delaying the inevitable, even regain a semblance of life exist, including drying cushion, and washing clothes by hand (as long as they please after drying!). Except that close, these treatments can not be properly applied, and it quickly becomes hellish! We come to pray for no wind (no wind, not normally top) ...

Il était time! It is almost in the middle of the Atlantic, and it was as close! Besides, did not stop Manu handed at all, and under cover of a sore throat, it dries its quarters!
makes me think that I have not touched the quarterfinals! Every night, in increments of 2 hours (2:30 Now that Manu is sick), a crew member is responsible for the boat and good works.
In practice? It is harnessed in wax in the process of freezing, have to shower, watch the stars and think about all the strange things we never took the time to consider. The quarter 2 and 3 (from 11:30 to 3:30) being the worst, a rollover is considered based 1,4,2,5,3. Yes, like we were not understood nothing, but we did manage it anyway.
between two parts of Blitzkrieg (game of the year 2011, invented on the boat made of raisins and other nuts to the studs, patent filed yet so we still will not give you the rules), cushy reading, swimming (once for the style, in order to say I swam in the middle of the Atlantic with 5000m depth), and other high cultural activities based nap, regardage of Dikkenek (movie of 2006 - personal view 2.7 times during the recliner) on continue à avancer avec de temps en temps un Supertanker au large, qui malgré les supplications d’Adrien à la VHF ne nous lâchent pas une seule caisse de bières à la mer.
It seems there what we were doing the "Satan" on the vessel two centuries ago of that, one who was bad luck. Long live the progress so far as I'm concerned. Tired
a morning maneuver that has a max sauces, I am tab (the real one, not the expression, the trick where you block the ropes) and then ... bam ... According to the memoirs of olives that had wake up (later published memoirs), I literally stolen. I emerge
therefore lying in the cockpit, without knowing who or where I am, ears ringing comme dans le Soldat Ryan.
Reremerde! In a jiffy, Adri me a compress using a small piece and a piece of fabric, looks at me with a smile and told me that this is not deep ... Well, you still have verify that I have not broken arm. Ready to remove the wax from my sleeve? Uh ... actually means. I can not feel my arm there. My right wrist is blue, but no open fracture, or broken arm ... Oufffffffffff!
Adri starts to be too happy to have the opportunity to sew me up (thank you cousin!), And me too happy to be alive! Really, it's an incredible feeling. Well, I do not advise you to try as much, but the big banana as a smile in the photo where you shave before I sew, it's not phony!
Well, it certainly will make me a war wound near the front, but at least it will give me a story to tell. If no head trauma, and my wrist is recovering well, we could all laugh about a great beer to Horta and Flores. And that's what we did for that matter, Horta and Flores.
Mis-apart from the worst quarter of my life in many jibes downwind and our Genoese returns last night's crossing (my accident not only earned me two days of sick leave cushy), the end of our Transat is pretty nice, complete with dolphins, hunting for jellyfish floating neon pink (no, we had no illegal substances on board, I can confirm), large dips and surges 6m we look at this with disdain. It's cold, but our reserves are held and rum a nice day:
EARTH !!!!!!!!!!
Finally, large clouds symbolizing the earth.
We leave the baffles, made a huge fart Soundtrack Gladiator, we Oliv jokes spell mythical Melon Melech (out of respect for children who read this blog, I will the spare), Ju continues to rave about me as mythical phrases they also Dikkenek (you might not understand - indeed, nobody outside of the boat was included), Manu out the bottle of Pastis and Adri bursts a huge Cuban cigar ...
is the end, we arrived after a short trip to 17days, we arrive, women, beer, ...!
The following is another story, I leave to those who have also been told, being less lazy than me when it comes to writing.

Looking final word, the sentence would sound fair, would explain in two words all the hollows of my story, which justifies the fact that we have not caught one fish and we are fed tuna and canned sardines, which you communicate the unparalleled taste of rice with ketchup fashion racket, and pasta, tomato sauce rusty - Transat sardines ... Showers rare and painful blows bucket of cold seawater and salty, the sweet smell of the disease (oh no, that I did) , parts of belotte and skat (Belote German) or even asshole feverish, Ju and why it happens always end at -400, dishes by headlamp, cooking harnessed the meadow, our unique and disastrous attempt to get the mainsail spinnaker, all these little things that make a transatlantic what it is, that in saliva, which rill, we do longer, we would like it to last time and again, fat jokes sailor, this outfit is great and I'm missing ...

If you had the chance to sail aboard the hullabaloo, if this good contagious atmosphere took you to the heart, if you remember toast Mista entices, then you also have to understand ...

Fabrizio, live from Paris ...

Azores, finishing

Au même moment, les Adri parents came to visit him alternating between ballads on the racket and visits to islands via ferry. And as on top of that, we had to juggle the schedule for the World Cup, you'll understand this required some planning, which in fact has punctuated the end of our trip to the Azores.

Like virtually none of them has made the same journey during his stay, you tell them in detail, I already can not remember, and then it would be very long. But if the area used by our guests were different, their occupations, they have been common.
Then without preamble, in brief and in disarray, a small summary of the major activities of the hullabaloo in the Azores.

The red wire? The world. The sad
benefits of blue we were not prevented from follow much of the race in bars frequented ports which we now know every nook and cranny. Again, we love football or you do not like it, viewing conditions were common to all: Sagres or Superbock pressure and Toast Mista (local ham and cheese sandwich). The winning formula is certainly it.

The attraction? Dolphins.
Apart Bouly and two times 45 minutes at sea in a week, all squatters had the privilege of seeing dolphins come and play with the boat and we reward a few spins. Always nice.

The leitmotif? Partying
During our stay in the Azores, we were treated to an impressive number of local festivities. As it is not the type to make the difficult, they were tested. Being in the right place at the right time is not always obvious, but when there is, in general, we are not disappointed, the atmosphere is guaranteed and the prices are unbeatable.

question? But where are the 20-30 years? A priori
Portugal or the United States for their study or work. This age is actually very poorly represented in the archipelago. Amazing.

activities? Tourism
When we were not doing a football or to watch, we rented cars to the tourist attractions. In two previous articles, we already windswept beauty of the Azores islands. I do not dwell on this point and conclude by saying that its vegetation, its landforms, lakes, and its landscapes are without doubt one of the most beautiful places if not the most beautiful what we have discovered since the start.

But like all good things must end some day he must go. And that day is today. We are Tuesday, July 20, it is 17h local. Anne's sister Adri joins us tonight and we leave in the wake towards Cadiz. 1000 miles separate this town west of Gibraltar from Punta Delgada, where we find ourselves now. We estimate the crossing time in eight days with a priori with the wind instead of against.

soon, Julien.

Coudret and The novel Melusine

An article in song:

Discover
I want to talk about a novel about a fascinating myth of the Middle Ages,
Le Roman de Melusine . I only read the version of Coudret (finally, a translation, not speaking French means!).

The back cover *

My opinion

edition of GF-Flammarion, presented, translated and annotated by Laurence Harf-Lancner provides a record of "the ancestors of Melusine," that is to say a few texts which have inspired the legend. This should be interesting for the university, but a bit inaccessible for the commom mortal, the case with very little explanation.
A more complete introduction can hopefully better situate the story in time and space, and learn more about the different versions of literary myth.

The wonderful transcends the work, becoming common among the characters. I especially loved when Melusine offers Raymondin earth. The leather strap that transforms into a river, these troubadours and these nobles appeared from nowhere came to party and serve the king, delighted me as ever.

If you're curious, I suggest you get a different versions of the legend of Melusine. I spent very good moments during her reading. If you are like me in your fancy places for reading, it's a perfect book to read in a bathtub or near water (near a river for example ^ ^), Melusine is after all the Fairy Fountain. :)

Myth
Besides the novel, and psychoanalytic interpretations as some have done, this story is inspired by an ancient myth that has marked the memories to the point of having law a Christianized version here (and not just a little!). The origin of Melusine has spilled much ink, both yesterday and today, and this resulted in many theories.

For example, if one tries to trace the etymology of his name, we come across some interesting results: **

- according to the account of Jehan d'Arras "Melusine" meaning "prodigy" or "prodigious."
- Littré suggests Latin Melusi "melodious, pleasing".
- Bullet offers a mid-lysowen Celtic root, "half-snake."
- Felix Liebrecht refers to a designation of Artemis: Melissa, and cites the influence Marseille.
- E. Blacher offers an opening to the Hindu goddess Miluschi
, the 'generous', whose mother would be the equivalent of Pricna Pressine.
- was also attached to Melusine old silver mines of Melle in the Deux-Sevres.
- Jean Markale seems to define the character from Greek melas - leukos, the "White-Black".

Melusine is the centerpiece of a fascinating myth, a figure rich evoking both the succubus and siren, and the fairy goddess. Melusine rises in the human psyche to reveal himself to us as an archetype with many facets:
"Woman, fairy, snakes and flies, it partakes of all elements of all kinds. Always present, it asserts itself as an inexhaustible medium of reflection on the nature and purpose of man.

every indication that she is the heir to ancient beliefs. More than a nymph, she is a true divinity of water. And it appears as a mother goddess, revered in ancient times, and perhaps on distant lands ** ".

iconography

*** A website tells perfectly the iconography of the fairy Melusine, through both Christian and pagan representations. I invite you to go take a little trip, it's very interesting and eventful.

Excerpts

facade of the Hotel de Ville La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime).

The number of representations of Melusine is as varied as its symbolic itself. Sometimes she is the Virgin Mary, the pillar that allows Christ to stand, the temptation of the serpent of Eden lost, builder, siren, snake, succubus, shadow trade secrets, protective light, androgynous woman, man, mother goddess, God sea, etc. ...

Melusine is as mysterious as his legend, and historians / mythologists still have not finished discovering its secrets.

How To Use Wellastright

A Hobbit house

It This is a small favorite, found on the forum Yuna's Destiny .

Yes, your glasses do not fall on your nose, it is indeed a hobbit house!
At least for the design, since humans live instead of jolly little men with big hairy feet (finally, I would rather say ... hobbit shorter!)

This house was built by his owner, his stepfather and some friends. It took them about 1000 to 1500 hours to build this property of £ 3000 (
$ 3 900 almost) old!
The best part is that it is environmentally friendly, close to nature and original! The negative impact on the environment remains the weakest possible: composting toilets, solar panels, recycled wood for flooring and fittings, etc. ...
Even the fridge is cooled by air from the foundation!

Living in harmony with nature with a level of comfort and technology acceptable ...
A garden around the house to be self-sufficient more ...
In our time, have a land becomes scarce and more expensive (the price of land without building frightens me !!!). This can be a serious obstacle to such dreams. Not to mention the permits and building regulations (the law of the houses of the same type) of each region.
Yet this family was not daunted.

Why did he do?
First answer: "It's fun. Living your own life, in your own way IS rewarding. Followings Keep Our Souls Our Dreams Alive ".
It's fun. Live our own lives in our way is rewarding. Follow our dreams keep our souls alive.

There are also small video of the gentleman explaining his other reasons:

I do not quite understand (English and me ...), but by browsing the website, you can find the same ideologies in writing. With much more detail. Very interesting to go.

I think this type of alternative may be appropriate, and more to make us keep a little more of this wonderful in us. Not to mention that perhaps one of the best ways to stay grounded with reality, contrary to what may appear at first sight!
So if you can not change the world, and become a hobbit, it is better to accept their human condition, and change our own world to us. :)

Good Basketball Songs For Games

Household heat wave Merlin

An oppressive heat wave sweeping across a portion of North America, I hardly ever go out, staying there to spend time in cool air conditioning of mom's cooking.

So I had time to make a small household in the blog, taking the opportunity to transfer some items who had served their time. The blog has become lighter to go.

I also made a presentation page , having neglected to do before. The curious are invited to read it, of course. ^ ^
This is a different concept of the article: Page remains stationary. In six months she will still be in one place.
She is on the side under categories.

Categories also were treated to more details as they were far from clear as crystal.

The music player is now playing more songs for my pleasure.
Please proceed to the next song or pause if it bothers you.

The lunar calendar was also treated to a new appearance.

Despite the heat, I invite you all to enjoy. It is the ideal time to eat ice cream, going to the movies (air conditioned!) And, especially, to bathe!
Drink plenty of fluids, without abusing the water, eating frequently and spicy if possible, and protect you from nasty sun-heat wave! Return

Where Are Glory Holes In New Albany Ohio

Merlin is a British television series created by Julian Jones, Jake Michie, Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy and posted since September 20, 2008 on BBC One.

Je comparais avec Kaamelott plus haut, parce que les modifications à la légende tirent leur essence the same principle: a rewrite of a large modern myth that has already been entitled to so many versions in the past. Why not. I adore!

From a technical standpoint, Merlin is doing rather well: sublime scenery and sometimes worked, other times simple and basic, visual effects (done by The Mill, which have included the effects of Gladiator and Doctor Who) succeeds and sometimes beautiful, sometimes ... Soft Knee (a giant dragon who takes the trouble of moving their lips when speaking rather than to use telepathy? Hmm ...), always elegant costumes ... The game of

actors is fair and successful. We believe in thoroughly. Colin Morgan and Katie McGrath revelations are to me, but it is up to older than the palm. In fact, one of the things that attracts me most about this series is that Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy Gilles in!) Plays an active role in it. Richard Wilson, meanwhile, plays an extremely endearing character (it's been awhile since I had not attached to a character that way!).

Although some episodes are predictable, while others nailed me on the spot (especially in the second season).
We always want to see the next episode. This is a sauce for a family audience, and it takes good.

Merlin is a series I urge all fans of the legend of Camelot, Celtic myths and magic fantastic (or not! Hehe).

Milena Velba En El Bus

Laura Pippo Barn and visit the hullabaloo.

After exercise, comfort: the Azores are a paradise. We would not want too many tourists come to us to compete, especially so, do not talk too much about you. But there are whales (guys, if you can steal some pictures for tourists who really saw ...), Dolphin (guys, if you ... oh no, here it is really seen), and birds look like ducks but make strange noises, just the equivalent of a hyena, but with a beak and wings.

Paradise, because these islands are in the middle of the Atlantic, and it rains a lot, except in June and July, and so they have a lush vegetation. Hydrangeas giant to rival a gardener of the continent, banana and palm trees down, trees and plants at the top bizarre. We go from sea level to 1000m time of a song by Joe Dassin drive, of course without counting stops "waaah for the egg, egg trick, fall laisseu" needed at every turn. For

peaks, volcanic craters, some with lakes inside. No access, no house, nothing, just pure nature and the azure sea in the background. Not trivial all that.

On land, Time use was balanced between the world cup matches accompanied tosta mista and beer, for real sport (football, running), climbing volcanoes and visit small towns.

On June 16 we celebrated the birthday of Olive as it should, with a feast of tapas of all kinds, a magnum of Graves, and gifts: the two best books of the world, from the Azores cryptonite , and hair bands, because Olivier has now long and blonde hair. No kidding!

crossings between islands have been very quiet and we were able to try to souquage Artibus and écartage sloop. The vocabulary of sailing offers opportunities for puns in gold, and nine months on board does not seem to have tired guys. We have taken risk to raise the plate, and go downwind to the winch.

the day, the ocean sparkles, the sun's heat tempered by sea breezes. The islands flatten until it disappears into the horizon, we are alone in the middle of the ocean, birds and dolphins.
night, the stars make their appearance, we identify the constellations of the bear, dragon, scorpion, and the most beautiful of them, the swan, flying in mid- the Milky Way.
As we say: the heavy. The very, very heavy, even.

Perched on volcanoes, whale watchers that sent former whalers to their offices were converted into zodiacs cookies to tourists. We thought to try to capture their frequency to chasing whales, but we thought that the encounter with a whale was well worth it to be coincidental rather than caused, even to wait and risk not to see at all.

Good luck to fuss, to guys, and blessed staying there, the whales will eventually show the tip of their tail.
